Follow the latest features, improvements, and changes being introduced across SeatShareLK as we continue to make everyday ride sharing simpler, smarter, and more useful.
August 2026
Adult & Child Booking Support
- Passengers can now book rides for adults and children within the same booking.
- Children under 12 may receive a 50% child fare where the driver has chosen to offer the child fare discount.
- If a driver does not offer the child fare discount, children can still be included in a booking at the standard seat contribution.
- Every adult and child occupies one available passenger seat, regardless of the fare charged.
- Children under 12 cannot be booked to travel alone. Any booking containing a child must include at least one accompanying adult aged 18 or over.
- Drivers can see the adult and child passenger breakdown and the expected contribution before accepting a booking.
- Negotiated offers now work with child fares: where a driver accepts an offered seat contribution, any applicable child discount is calculated from the agreed contribution.
- Booking creation, acceptance, rejection and cancellation have been strengthened with server-side validation and safer seat availability handling.

Introducing SeatShareLK Plus
- SeatShareLK Plus has been introduced as an optional upgrade that adds smarter alerts, faster ways to post regular rides, and additional tools for frequent travellers.
- The existing SeatShareLK platform remains free to use — members can continue posting rides, finding and booking rides, posting passenger requests, and using the core features already available to them.
- Plus members can select up to 4 travel districts and up to 4 preferred areas within each district for more precise ride and passenger request matching.
- New Watch Routes allow members to follow particular journeys and receive email and SMS alerts when relevant rides or passenger requests are posted.
- New Saved Routes make it quicker for regular drivers to post repeat journeys using saved route templates.
- Plus members can receive SMS alerts for important booking activity in addition to existing email and push notifications.
- Ride Boost allows drivers to give selected rides greater visibility.
- An initial group of 50 SeatShareLK members is being invited to test Plus free for one month and provide feedback before it becomes more widely available.

Smarter Alerts & Weekly Ride Digest
- General notifications for every newly posted ride and passenger request are being replaced by a weekly digest of relevant rides and requests.
- Important notifications relating to your own bookings, booking requests, questions, and trip activity continue as usual.
- Ride and passenger request matching now makes better use of exact areas, nearby areas, and district-level matches.
- Members can manage their travel interests and notification preferences from their account.
- Motorbike drivers can now indicate whether a passenger helmet is available when posting a ride.
July 2026
Organization Communities Introduced
- Organizations can now create controlled SeatShareLK communities for their employees, students, members, volunteers, or other approved groups.
- Members can join an organization using an invitation code, with optional administrator approval and member ID verification.
- Drivers and passengers can choose whether a ride or passenger request is shared with everyone or only with members of their organization.
- Organization-only rides and passenger requests are visible only to active members of the relevant organization.
- On public rides and requests, members of the same organization can see its name and logo, while other users see only a discreet organization verification tick.
July 2026
Organization Administration Portal
- Introduced a dedicated organization portal with a dashboard showing members, pending requests, invitation codes, and administrators.
- Organization administrators can approve, reject, suspend, reactivate, or remove members.
- Invitation codes can be created with approval requirements, member ID requirements, expiry dates, usage limits, and membership types.
- Primary administrators receive an email when a new member submits a request that requires approval.
- The portal includes responsive desktop and mobile navigation for easier community management.
